Young Goodman Brown
This story reminds me of our struggles in daily lives between what's good and what's bad. Someone might hide their identity by going to church and making others believe that you're devoted to God. My personal opinion is that we should seek God and that we controlled our destiny as to who we are.

Project #1
The song that I chose, "For you I Will," relates in many different ways to "A Worn Path". For you I will talks about how a girl will do what ever it takes for love, similar to Phoenix who will do anything for her grandson. Phoenix on the other hand travels a great distance to accomplish her goal and hopes when she returns that her grandson will still be alive. The song and the story are correlated because the girl can not live without him, her love, and Phoenix goes to the extreme that she even looses her memory after she learned her grandson was dead. Both characters pretty much are dead inside for the lost of their love ones. Below are excerpts from the song, "For you I Will."
I will cross the ocean for you
I will go and bring you the moon
I will be your hero, your strength, anything you need
I will be the sun in your sky
I will light your way for all time, promise you
For you I will, yes yeah, yeah
I will shield your heart from the rain
I won't let no harm come your way
Oh, these arms will be your shelter
No, these arms won't let you down
If there is a mountain to move
I will move that mountain for you
Lay my life on the line, for you I will fight, oh
For you I will die, with every breath, with all my soul
I'll give my word, I'll give it all
Put your faith in me, put your faith in me
And I'll do anything...oh...
I will cross the ocean for you
I will go and bring you the moon
I will be your hero, your strength, anything you need
I will be the sun in your sky
I will light your way for all time, promise you
For you I will, yes yeah, yeah
I will shield your heart from the rain
I won't let no harm come your way
Oh, these arms will be your shelter
No, these arms won't let you down
If there is a mountain to move
I will move that mountain for you
Lay my life on the line, for you I will fight, oh
For you I will die, with every breath, with all my soul
I'll give my word, I'll give it all
Put your faith in me, put your faith in me
And I'll do anything...oh...
The Necklace
Mathilde was a manipulated and ambitious woman who controlled her husband to the extreme. They lived a decent life but that wasn't enough to Mathilde who always wanted to have more. Mathilde was determined to be the attraction of the night; and she was. She did not know that her life was going to change completely. After the necklace was lost she realized the fantasy that she always lived on was over.
Dolan's Cadillac
Dolan's Cadillac is the most sadness story that I have ever read. The character had a combination of emotions, he was devasted emotionally and physically after the death of his wife. The character started to hear voices, he thought it was his wife Elizabeth. In his hallucinations Elizabeth was talking to him, she wanted him to take revenge against Dolan. Dolan was the only one who was guilty of the crime. He believe her, and that's when he started following Dolan everywhere. He was determined to be Dolan's nightmare. In order for the character to find peace in his life he needed to kill Dolan. He had plan his revenge against Dolan for seven years and knew exactly how Dolan was going to die. He buried him alive.
Araby
Araby is kind of a silly story. The story is basically about a young boy who has a crushed with an older girl. In his imagination, he fell in love with her and felt a little intimidated. He started to spy on her from distance and was anxious to really know her well. One day he wanted to impress her and went to the fair to get something for her. Upon his arrival at the fair he learned that it was closed. He realized that everything was just a fantasy. He was kind of disappointed at himself for fallen in love with a woman he knew wasn't going to correspond to him because of the age difference. Or perhaps she was taking advantage of his kindness and naiveness.
The Man from the South
An old man approach a young boy who was having a great time with his friends and asked him that he's willing to give his new Cadillac in return for the boy's two fingers. The boy was inexperience and immature and accepted the offer. The boy was trying to prove in front of everybody, especially one girl, that he was brave. When he saw the reality that it was a real bet and not a game, he then realized that he was dealing with a psycho. The old man's wife saved his life, he then noticed that she only had one finger on her hand. She explained to him that she had gone thru the same betting process. And that he had lost everything in life including the Cadillac that he was betting which was hers. Gambling is a sickness that can destroy your life and your surroundings.
